Bakh Shullah, a 26-year-old Afghan commando with 3rd Commando Kandak, scans the horizon for security threats during a clearing operation in Zharay District, Kandahar Province. Shullah and fellow commandos were partnered with U.S. service members from Special Operations Task Force – South for the operation, which resulted in the discovery of 200 pounds of homemade explosives.

Lighting up the night.
Marines with Regimental Combat Team 6’s personal security detachment shoot their M4 rifles during a night range at Forward Operating Base Delaram II, Afghanistan. The Marines used night vision goggles and infrared lasers to see and aim in on their targets. The PSD is responsible for ensuring the regimental commanding officer and other distinguished visitors can safely move about the regiment’s area of operations.
